My First Science project by Ryley

The Caterpillar...

The Chrysalis...
The Butterfly...

Ryley taking her butterfly outside for the releasing ceremony

She insisted on touching the poor butterfly.

We were able to assist the butterfly onto her finger.
May we introduce The Painted Lady...
About a month ago, we went to a great place called Kidspace. It's a museum for kids with a lot of different activities (all kinds of stuff) for the kids. They have insects and even a colony of bees, they have a tricycle area, a garden area, a basin that includes a creek. It's really a great place to visit with the kiddos. Check it out https://www.kidspacemuseum.org/. We adopted a caterpillar and brought it home. Ryley was so excited to learn about the creature. She was fascinated with the entire process. It really makes you think back when you were a kid and did this yourself! We helped her make some sugar water for it and collected sticks to place inside the bug catcher. When it came time to release it we had to coax her into it. She really loved looking at it. She really considered it her pet (maybe it's time for a fish again, although she has asked about getting a frog). We told her we would look for another caterpillar and do it all over again.

What can I say absolutely beautiful!!!

We had such a fun and relaxing Mother's Day. Thanks to my family for making it so memorable and wonderful. I know I will enjoy all of my gifts! Our day started with brunch at The Reef in Long Beach. It's located right on water. The view of the city was magnificent! There was so much food to choose from we didn't know where to begin. They had a great kids selection too! Ryley ate two ice cream push-ups (her favorite). We all ate so much, even Kai was lucky enough to get a little taste of ice cream...thanks to Daddoh. We tried a little bit of everything. I tried the menudo and it was pretty good but not like mom makes. This is so funny I have to share it...I received a Mother's Day card from one of my sister's and the other from one of my brother's. The cards are exactly the same. The funny thing is this happens a lot in my family...Birthdays, Mother's Day, etc...LOL!

We were talking about how much the girls look alike. DNA is phenomenal! If it's not a mannerism then it's a simple article of clothing that makes them look alike. Ryley definately has lighter hair and eyes. However they both do have cute dimples and adorable smiles in common.

Ice POP anyone?

Kai enjoying an ice pop. She held the pop and made a huge watery mess. Just what the Doctor ordered, a cold ice pop for my sore gums! We can see the teeth it's just a matter of time.

The Grandkids!

This is a picture of most of the grandkids (Two are missing). From left to right, (back row) Eric, Jason, Karissa. (Middle row) Andy and Jimmy. (Front row) Michael, Ryley, Caroline, and Edward. Sitting on the grass Baby Kai. Grandma Valdovinos is a grandmother to 12 kids and counting (6 were born in 2004) who will be next?

My Cousin, My Twin

Ryley and her cousin Andy (all of us call him...Andy Pandy) look so much alike. We went to Andy Pandy's 4th Birthday party this past weekend. It seems as though we keep celebrating birthdays every weekend. Ryley and Andy are less then 4 weeks apart. It's so nice that she has 5 cousins that are all the same age.

It's Bath Time!

Kai loves to take baths. It's so funny every night when we take her upstairs, we put her down and take her clothes off. The second she hears the water turn on she starts squirming like a little bug. She kicks and squeals. It's so cute she recognizes her bath time!

My Best Friend

Ryley is always asking if her "best friend" Natalie can come over and play. We laugh and tell her that Natalie is not only her best friend, she's her cousin too! She grins and replies, "She's my cousin?" with such amazement. The girls are only about 5 weeks apart.

Fast Pitch

Ryley has three cousins who live in Yucaipa/Calimesa. One of our new past times is attending our nieces (Karissa) fast pitch softball games. She is a really good player. Karissa is one of two catchers on the team and also plays short stop. What will we do when the season ends?

Bugs Anyone?

Ryley is really into catching bugs lately. The only problem is she brings them into the house. She insists on keeping them inside her bug catcher. She will go outside and pick leaves off the trees and bushes and places them inside with the bugs. She thinks that as long as they have leaves they will have food to survive. When she's not looking Mommy saves the bugs by releasing them.

Kia's first dip.

Our brother had a birthday pool party for our nieces 4th birthday. Kia was able to experience her first dip in the pool! She loved it! It really doesn't surprise us because she loves to take baths. Ryley loves the water too...she stayed in the pool for hours! She stayed in the pool so long she was the last one left.
